Three STPPS teams remain in the state football playoffs as the second round of playoff action kicks off Friday night. After three first-round home games a week ago, only one STPPS team will host a second-round game.
Slidell (9-2) is the lone 5A team remaining from St. Tammany Parish. The Tigers travel to Gonzales to face East Ascension (10-1). Slidell enters the game riding an eight-game winning streak after posting its first playoff win since 2004.
Last week, Pearl River (8-2) won its first playoff game in school history as the Rebels dispatched Franklin Parish at home. Now with its first eight-win season since 1989, Pearl River travels to Monroe to play Neville (8-2).
The winner of the Pearl River/Neville game will face the winner of Livonia/Lakeshore.
Lakeshore (11-0) is seeking its second straight trip to the state quarterfinals as the Titans welcome Livonia (9-2) to Titan Coliseum. Lakeshore is 24-1 in its last 25 games and the Titans have outscored opponents 185-52 in four home playoff games in the last two seasons.
